- Shadow at least one DO physician and talk about the osteopathic philosophy. Most DO schools require a letter of evaluation from a practicing DO. Therefore, we encourage you to form a relationship with a DO as soon as possible. Ideally in your first or second year of college.
- Select evaluators to write your letters. Provide each of them with a copy of your activities and personal statement. You will send individual letters because we do not have a Premedical Committee at The University of Iowa. Read all of the information at the website below

- The Academic Advising Center recommends that you complete your AACOMAS application in June or July. Most osteopathic medical schools accept students on a basis of rolling admission. Therefore, it is in your best interest to apply early in the summer. After receiving secondary applications, complete and return them as swiftly as possible.
- Contact the Career Center in C310 of the Pomerantz Center to schedule a practice interview.
