- Download the AMCAS Instructional Manual and read it carefully.
- Write your personal statement six months in advance of when you plan to apply.
- Select evaluators to write your letters. Provide each of them with a copy of your activities and personal statement. UI students select the “Individual Letters” option. (We do not have a Premedical Committee at The University of Iowa.)

- The Academic Advising Center recommends that you complete your AMCAS application in June or July. Most medical schools accept students on a basis of rolling admission. Therefore, it is in your best interest to apply early in the summer. After receiving secondary applications, complete and return them as swiftly as possible.
- Contact the Career Center in C310 of the Pomerantz Center to schedule a practice interview. Read the AAMC’s information regarding medical school interviews.
