The University of Iowa offers more than 80 undergraduate majors through its various colleges, including the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (the largest college within the University), the Tippie College of Business, the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, and the College of Nursing. Whether you are certain of your major or are exploring your options as an Open major, your academic advisor is here to help you.
As soon as you start to think about a new or different major, be sure to talk to your academic advisor. If you’re advised in the Academic Advising Center, your advisor will be able to brainstorm with you to help you figure out your interests, skills, and abilities, and how these might fit into a great major for you. If you’re departmentally advised, ask your advisor to refer you to the appropriate person in the AAC; there’s a good chance that you still have time to talk about a new major, even if you aren’t sure what that major is!
